Eighty per cent of Rio 2016 Olympic Games tickets have been sold

International Olympic Committee considers final adjustments made and the city, ready for the start of competitions

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced this Saturday (30.07) that 80% of tickets for the Games in Brazil have been sold. The announcement was made after meeting between the organisation and the Rio 2016 Committee in a hotel in Barra da Tijuca. "The last adjustments were made and now, everything is ready for the Games" said the IOC spokesperson Mark Adams.

According to him, the report made by the Rio 2016 Committee President Carlos Arthur Nuzman during the meeting, left the IOC President Thomas Bach eager for the Games. "The torch is arriving in Rio and we have a high approval rate on behalf of the population. I can't give any details of the opening ceremony, but the soul of the party will be Brazilian and will mesmerise the world".

Adams also said that the winds that brought down the ramp at Marina da Glória this Saturday are not a concern for the International Olympic Committee. "This will not affect training and the sailing events. There are a lot of people working at the marina. This is but a specific issue and I think it would be wrong to judge the facilities based on this", said the IOC spokesperson.
