Partnership Agreements
Since Rio de Janeiro was chosen to host the 2016 Olympics, the amount of resources being allocated through partnership agreements has increased every year. The agreements have been signed by the Ministry of Sport and confederations, as well as clubs and other sport organisations.
These partnership agreements are aimed directly at high performance athletes, focusing on the Olympics and Paralympics, and have the goal of leaving a legacy for national sport beyond the 2016 Games.
Between 2010 and 2013, R$ 225.18 million were allocated by the Ministry of Sport through these agreements. These resources have been allocated for several uses, among them: air fares and lodgings for athletes taking part in major national and international competitions; hiring of coaches and other multidisciplinary professionals (nutritionists, psychologists, biomechanical engineers, physiotherapists, doctors, etc.); purchase of equipment and materials (uniforms and other); developing athletes in junior categories.
